Solution.
The HBCU-ISACTM will serve HBCU member institutions by promoting cybersecurity operational protection and response.
HBCU-ISACTM member institutions will benefit from threat intelligence and other automated data collection and sharing tools to enable informed decisions about threats and events and peer assessment services to improve the institution’s overall security posture. In addition, the HBCU-ISACTM also
fosters the building of operational relationships and functional networks through several educational events and cybersecurity response exercises to facilitate trust. Working groups and committees focus on topics and activities of importance to the sector. A shared services portal will provide the support functions required to protect the HBCU ecosystem and its business units, utilizing a well-defined infrastructure to
enable higher-value service delivery for the benefit of all.

Resource / Expertise Augmentation
Cybersecurity expertise is scarce, and it is difficult for many organizations to maintain a cadre of qualified
personnel. The HBCU-ISAC will provide access to a pool of highly technical resources with years of experience in SOC Operations and Incident
Management that the universities can leverage
for monitoring and incident response activities

leverage its strategic relationship with Trustwave
Government Services SpiderLabs (SL) Research team collects and cultivates Threat Intelligence and
telemetry from multiple sources both internally from
our seven global SOCS/honeypots and externally
through third-party relationships (Microsoft, Virus Total, Team Cymru, ThreatExchange). Our SL team
conducts over 2500 penetration tests annually, and
we research over 9 million web application attacks
yearly. Additionally, the SpiderLabs team has been the
largest provider of Oracle vulnerabilities for the past
12 years and was named a Top Contributor for Threat
Indicators by Microsoft.
HBCU Annual Cyber Exercise

HBCU Annual Cyber Exercise
HBCU-ISAC provides
a venue for HBCUs and government, the private
sector, and international partners to come together to
simulate the response to a large-scale, coordinated,
significant cyber incident impacting the HBCU
ecosystem and its infrastructure. During the event,
HBCUs will exercise their incident response plans
and identify opportunities for coordination and
information sharing. Together, HBCU participants
will identify areas for growth and improvement to
strengthen the HBCU ecosystem’s cyber resiliency.
The HBCU-ISACTM will offer members daily cybersecurity news reports, alertsand advisories, analysis reports of cybersecurity threats and mitigation, and an active, interested community of subject matter experts who provide feedbackon practices and standards. We foster professional training and development through monthly webinars and regional workshops. HBCU-ISACTM will act as a cleared Network Security Operations Center and deploy Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) for the HBCU member institutions
